Gazebo at League Park in League City

When the holidays start hovering on the horizon, year after year, League Park in League City dresses up for the season and its signature event – Holiday in the Park.

League Park

Tucked away from the busy streets and shaded by majestic old oaks, this cozy park in the Historic District has the vibe of a Hallmark Christmas movie. With plenty of charming backdrops around every corner, League Park is a lovely place to explore on one of Houston's warm winter days in December.

A snowy gazebo at the front of the park is nothing if not a prime spot for a Christmas card. Adorned by traditional garlands and wreaths, it becomes Santa's residence on the first Saturday in December during the Holiday in the Park event. Everyone can enter the festive quarters and take a complimentary picture with a jolly man.

The main Christmas tree is displayed on the lawn by the red caboose and can be viewed from anywhere on the grounds. Decked out with vibrant ball ornaments, it cheerfully towers over the park. And holiday trees don't stop there.

A row of Christmas trees accented by perfect red poinsettias lines up a railroad car on one side, making it a charming spot for a Christmas card photo.

Holiday Market

As soon as December rolls around, the park starts preparing its grounds for the Holiday Market, a two-day event during the Holiday in the Park. Dozens of different vendors sell a great variety of unique handmade Christmas gifts.

Who would not wear this Christmas tree dress? This one just stole my heart.

Founder's Square

A 5-minute walk through the oak-lined grounds of League Park will take you to the historic Founder's Square, a Victorian-like place of local specialty shops and small boutiques.

It's the very best place to shop for gift items, European antiques, home decor, skin care products, fashion clothes, and an abundance of teas.

Bright colors,  giant Christmas decor, and a historic charm will impress even the grouchiest Grinch.

Now, in my book, there's nothing more soul-warming than to have a cuppa in a quaint specialty tea room on a cool day in December. Whatever you do, have a cup of tea or two!

Annual Grand Night Parade

When: Sat., Dec. 3, 2022 at 6 p.m.
Where: Main St, League City, TX

You may also look forward to an annual Christmas parade that takes place on the first Saturday in December on Main St in the Historic District of League City. Over 100 floats and marching bands step into the spotlight to kick off the holiday season. Just make sure to bring some baskets to collect the trinkets thrown from the floats and arrive early to find parking before streets start closing for the parade.

Since it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in every park we go, we decided not to let a single one go unexplored. They are all such magical places to play the winter blues away.
