Kings Creek Falls, SC

Located in Oconee County near the border with Georgia, Kings Creek Falls is a 70-foot stunning waterfall that should be on your bucket list for family-friendly hikes.

We had an easy short hike of less than a mile through a lush untouched forest and the abundance of mountain laurels with a grand finale - a 70-foot waterfall that towers over a pristine wading pool at the bottom.

The trail is mostly a narrow path in the woods. It’s well-maintained with clear signage.

We parked in the Burrells Ford Campground parking area and started our hike from the access point to the Foothills Trail right behind the informative display with the map.  It's a 0.5-mile walk until you reach the King Creek Falls Trail.

At the trailhead,  there's a steep but short descent with a few sharp turns and steps that takes you on the exciting journey from the beginning.

After that the trail is mostly flat with minimal changes in elevation.

We hit the trail late in May and truly enjoyed all the amazing mountain laurels in full bloom,

picking our way under the lush canopy and across a log bridge.

After crossing that foot bridge, you reach the fork where the trails split, King Creek Falls Trail goes left and Foothills Trail goes right.

Then for another half mile, the trail winds through a narrow path in the woods until you approach the falls.

As you get close to the waterfall, the trail gets rougher. There are a few rocky and steeper sections riddled with roots to traverse.

But once you are at the bottom of the falls, some breathtaking views, along with the refreshing spray from the falls, are yours for the taking.

Blankets of water rush down a jagged mountain side, falling 70 feet to a pristine pool below.

This small pool is perfect for kids and adults alike to cool off and splash around in the summer.
