Greenville has many pretty cool playgrounds all across its city limits and we've clocked in endless hours visiting those fun-filled spots. Juanita Butler playground is one of the smaller playgrounds in the downtown area that packs a big punch. Adjacent to the community center, it's fenced in and has different structures for different ages.
Surprisingly, for such a compact playground, it has many unique structures and a covered basketball court right next to it. A zip line, balancing elements, a multi-level climber
and a few spinning features keep the little ones busy for hours.
Our kids’ favorite part was the zip line. And who doesn’t want to zip through the air and experience a little adventure? This zip line is fairly long, close to the ground and has two inclined platforms so that children can jump on and dismount from it on their own. Near the end the rider slows down and the kickback force is minimal at the end of the rope.
Balancing bridges and links are the heart of good old the floor is lava game for our kids. They like to come up with a few make-believe games before wrapping up at the playground. Especially with all these bright colors all around, it's even more fun.
The playground is in the open sun. There are not good shade structures or natural shade there, so it can get really hot in the summer for the play to last. Plan ahead of your visit and have some alternative places in mind to go to instead. Luckily, this play area is located near downtown Greenville and you have tons of options for the other kid-friendly attractions and parks, like Unity Park and Falls Park on the Reedy, to visit.
