Midtown Houston is famed for its walkable community, urban green spaces, and eye-catching public art. Take advantage of some Houston's cooler summer days and explore the world-class art scenes in the heart of Houston.

1. #DahliaHTX

Where: 2901 Fannin Street, Houston, TX 77004

Dahlias are in full bloom in Midtown Houston. The entire facade of this building is an instagrammable hot spot and can easily pass as a backdrop for a fashion shoot. Huge detailed dahlias add vibrancy to the space and beautify the whole block. The contrast between the black building's walls and color-rich flowers is so striking that you will be drawn to explore the site up close.

2. "Preservons la Creation" by Sebastien “Mr. D” Boileau

Where: At the corner of Fannin and Tuam in Midtown Houston.

Right across from the #DahliaHTX mural, there is another jaw-dropping artwork that stretches across the 180 feet-wide wall. The Preservons la Creation is an artist's interpretation of Michelangelo's famous fresco painting "The Creation of Adam" on the Sistine Chapel's ceiling in Rome.

3. The Cube's Floral Mural at Midtown Park

Where: Midtown Park: Inside the glass building that connects the underground parking with the park.

The Midtown district has been constantly changing and revitalizing its urban spaces in the last decade, turning them into a multi-use walkable public environment. Midtown Park is a prime example of such urban renewal. It's one of the best urban green spaces in Houston that includes a big lawn, playground, garden walk, splash pad, pavilion with a stage, dog park, and jaw-dropping art pieces.

This floral installation is inside the glass building that provides immediate access to the park from the underground parking garage. On all four sides, the elevator's walls are adorned with various beautiful floral compositions, from brown-eyed susans to asters.

Colorful native Texas wildflowers can transform any space and can completely lighten up one's mood. I think it's a thing in Houston to transform and brighten public entrances for parking garages. The Synchronicity of Color at Discovery Green is another creative project that turned the entrance to the underground parking garage into an artwork.

Created by local artist Dixie Friend Gay, this nature-inspired Wild Wonderland mosaic mural covers the whole southeast wall of Midtown Park. The artwork features Texas native plants and wildlife and is totally awe-striking from a distance and up close with all the attention to intricate details and the use of the mosaic technique.
