The Rail Yard is a community multi-use green space that includes 7 acres of fun with walking and biking trails, the Panthers Play 60 obstacle playground, an outdoor shelter, a mountain bike park, and an outdoor gym. But that’s not all!
The park also has an amphitheater, a dog park, a tree tunnel with misting arches, and plenty of places to grab a bite and green spaces to work those wiggles out.
There are also plenty of larger-than-life art installations, which make for a fun photo opp.
Obstacle Course Playground: NFL Play 60
You can climb, leap, run, and swing through this first for South Carolina: the Panthers Play 60 obstacle course.
This play area is perfect for little daredevils.
While all play structures are geared toward bigger kids, the grass-like surface of the playground is perfect for small children to crawl around, allowing them to also join in on the fun with their older siblings.
However, the playground is in the open sun, so the equipment can get pretty hot in the summer. Try to avoid visiting the play area when the sun is strongest. And be sure to bring your sunscreen and plenty of water!
The Rail Trail
The park is located along a paved urban Rail Trail that is now connected to Spartanburg’s downtown through its newest extension - the Hub City Hopper trail - providing more reasons to get out and enjoy the outdoors.
