The Christmas Train
Living Stones Church in Alvin puts on quite a show each holiday season, hosting its popular train rides, illuminated walking trails, and activities for the whole family to partake in. The Great Elf Show, carols, a huge model train display, Go-Karts, story times with Mrs. Claus, a gift shop, a pizza restaurant on-site, and so much more. This will be the 14th year that this local church has presented this amazing experience for all to enjoy.
The Christmas Train makes for a great spot to visit during the most
wonderful time of the year and it's only a 30-minute drive south of
Houston. Admission to the grounds and walking trails is free. If you want to
climb onto a charming train for a ride through beautifully illuminated
Christmas scenery, it's $10-$12 for a ticket.
Many of the pictures below were taken over the years, and it's amazing to see how this place has transformed from a local family holiday spot to a spectacular must-see destination.
Train Ride
This is what happens when you end up on the Nice List during the holiday
season. You get to ride the vintage train to visit Santa and his toy
factory at the North Pole. On the way to the jolly man's residence, the train will take you through over 300,000 twinkling lights, a multitude of life-size illuminated displays, and nativity scenes to the beat of Christmas music.
The Great Elf Show
This is a FREE Elf Show full of high-spirited mischief elves and their holiday stories that tell about the true meaning of Christmas. Cheerful helpmates dance, sing and engage the kids in their antics on the stage. The show runs every hour, starting at 6:30 pm. The last show is at 8:30 pm on Thursdays and 9:30 pm on Fridays and Saturdays and December 20-23.
Christmas Model Train Display
An elaborate Christmas village display with a multitude of scenes and moving elements is set inside the Victory Camp campus.
Meet Santa!
A trip to The Christmas Train would not be complete without visiting the jolly man himself! Head over to Santa’s Residence across from the main building to take pictures with the big man. Interesting fact, for the last six years that we've been going to The
Christmas Train, there has always been the same Santa. So when we go back there, it's like we're going to see our good old friend
again. Always such a precious moment.
The entire place is brimming with wall-to-wall sparkling decorations and so many festive photo ops you won’t be able to stop snapping pictures.
There are numerous festive spots perfect for selfies and group photos, including the coziest fireplace right at the entrance to the train platform, Texas-inspired displays, a plethora of Christmas trees, and the train itself, of course!
If nothing else, all the tree vintage ornaments will charm you off your feet.
