Kid Venture 2.0 in Anderson, SC was already an amazing spot—and now it’s even better! With brand-new climbing elements, a treehouse, and a zipline, there’s so much more for kids to explore and enjoy. Plus, the splash pad will reopen later in May!
We used to go to Kid Venture in Anderson all the time, especially during splash pad season. We loved all the fun stuff, and the playground was always super cool! When in October 2024, they announced even more updates to the playground, we could hardly contain our playground-loving joy. It was supposed to open around Christmas, but it got delayed. So when we saw an update after spring break that the new section was finally open, we jumped in the car to check it out–and it didn’t disappoint!
Just a Bit of a Glance Back at History
Kid Venture 2.0 in Anderson, South Carolina, is more than just a playground—it's a symbol of community spirit, transformation, and inclusivity. Originally built in 1999, the first Kid Venture featured expansive wooden structures designed with input from local children. For years, it served as a cherished gathering spot for families throughout Anderson County.
But time took its toll. By 2015, the original structure had begun to deteriorate, sparking conversations about safety and the need for a major overhaul. Community members, local organizations, and government officials rallied together, launching a vision for what would become Kid Venture 2.0.
In 2022, the dream began to materialize. The first phase of Kid Venture 2.0 opened to the public after a $3.5 million investment. This new, inclusive space introduced vibrant modern play structures, ADA-compliant features, and a splash pad—welcoming children of all abilities and ages.
Grand Opening of Phase 2
Momentum continued. On March 28, 2025, the park celebrated the grand opening of Phase Two with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. This expansion brought even more play features and amenities, further enhancing the park’s role as a central recreational hub in Anderson. New elements like soft turf, toddler-friendly zones, and ADA-approved features were added to make the space even more inclusive and fun for everyone.
One of the coolest new additions is the treehouse—a playful structure designed to look like a big tree trunk right in the middle of the play area. Kids can climb up through the center or use the special stairs that look like a pile of stacked logs. At the top, there's a closed tree slide that adds a whole extra layer of adventure.
Kids can also now enjoy a zipline, adding a thrilling element to their playground experience. Along with these additions are several new climbing elements, grassy hills, and the roller slide that's such a hit! With rows of rollers built right into the slide, they make the ride down feel smooth, bumpy, and super fun all at once. Definitely a favorite with the kids (and maybe a few grown-ups too!).
They added more shaded seating for caregivers right in the middle of the playground—total game changer! When you’re chasing little tornadoes and trying to keep an eye on multiple spots at once (especially if you’ve got more than one kid), that shade is a lifesaver. Now we can keep watch over the whole area without melting in the sun!
Plus, all the extra touches—like the communication board with pictures and the tables with checkerboards built right into the tops—make the space even more awesome for everyone.
These upgrades are part of an ongoing effort to make Kid Venture 2.0 a top-tier destination for families in the Upstate. The playground continues to be a space where kids can run, play, and connect with nature in a safe, well-designed environment.
And just in time for warmer weather, the popular splash pad is scheduled to reopen later in May! It’s the perfect way to cool down after a day of climbing, zipping, and playing.

All the Little Things That Make a Big Difference

- Restrooms are available inside the gated area — super convenient for parents!
- A large covered area with multiple picnic tables sits at the entrance. You’ll also find tables and benches with umbrellas scattered throughout the playground, offering shady spots to rest or enjoy a snack.
It’s the kind of place you visit for an hour and end up staying all afternoon.
