Legacy Park, Greenville, SC

Legacy Park is such a peaceful and quiet oasis in the heart of a residential neighborhood in Greenville that makes you feel as if you're a thousand miles away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There are two play areas for older and younger kids, the Little Free Library under an old oak, a bubbling fountain, a tree-shaded walking trail, a pond, and plenty of wide open green spaces. And there's even a sand volleyball court. All in all, it's a gem of a park.

Legacy Park

Legacy Park is a multi-use 20-acre park set in the loveliest settings of a residential community with the green hills and flowering plants everywhere. It has many man-made features kids will love to swing, slide, and climb on, but it's the natural beauty of this park that sets it apart from the most playgrounds in Greenville. Plus all the wonderful green spaces are perfect to stretch out with a book or have a picnic.

This was one of the first parks we visited when we moved to Greenville. We were looking for parks in the area and came across some good reviews of Legacy Park, so we decided to see it for ourselves. Honestly, the reviews and photos don't do justice to how amazing this park is.

Ages 5-12

There are a giant net climbing dome, monkey bars, rings, a climbing wall, and a VERY TALL slide. The park has towering trees, but this section of the park is not shaded by them, so be prepared for fun in the sun.

We love finding the Little Free Libraries, those small but mighty free book boxes, around the parks. And not surprisingly, we just stumbled upon one set under a sprawling old oak in Legacy Park. What could be a better place to savor reading a book or two?

For the littlest, there's a fenced-in play area that features a low-level play structure, a bridge, swings and benches for parents.

This part of the park is a little further away from the play area for older children, so it can be difficult to keep an eye on multiple children playing in different corners of the park at the same time. But having a fence around a play area for younger children definitely provides some peace of mind if you have a little escape artist.

Although the main play structure is in the open sun, this part of the park has plenty of shaded pockets around the perimeter and underneath the structure itself.

Some new additions to the park are shade umbrellas above the tables and a musical garden.

We truly enjoyed our time here and plan to come visit often, especially in the spring when trees around the pond are in full bloom.
