The Spartanburg Science Center is a great spot to spend a summer day with the kiddos! With over a dozen cool STEM exhibits, they'll be busy learning and having fun without even realizing it. There's even a live animal room where they can get up close and personal with some amazing wildlife. Plus, right across the way is a splash pad to beat the heat and make the day even more epic!
Hatcher Garden is an absolute natural treat within the city. This beautiful 10-acre preserve is a kaleidoscope of colors, boasting an impressive array of perennial and annual flowers, as well as tranquil ponds, wooden bridges, a small waterfall and art sculptures. In the spring and summer, the garden comes alive with vibrant hues and the sweet songs of many birds, making it an ideal spot to enjoy the beauty of nature without leaving the city.
The Rail Yard is a community multi-use green space that includes 7 acres of fun with walking and biking trails, the Panthers Play 60 obstacle playground, an outdoor shelter, a mountain bike park, and an outdoor gym. And guess what? There's even more to explore!
For a change of scenery, we went on a short, impromptu trip to Spartanburg in the middle of the week. And surprisingly, it turned out to be a great place to make memories with the kids. Downtown Spartanburg is steeped in the traditional charm of a small town, and all you need to experience that is a pair of comfortable shoes.
